Actually, only general visiting students are required to take the Chinese language proficiency exam after registration. There is no need for those who already have level 7 and above HSK certificate (or level 6 and above certificate of new HSK) to take the Chinese language proficiency exam.
But applicants may need to attend interviews during the application processing period.
